Nail Clippers (Medium – Large)

DESCRIPTIONThe Bugalugs (love the name !) nail clippers are available in size Small to Medium or Medium to Large. I wasn’t entirely sure which size to order, as they are for my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. They are the largest of the toy breeds and he does have quite bit feet, so I chose the Medium to Large option.The clippers arrive in branded packaging, and there are instructions on the back of the packaging, as well as on the product information page on how to use them safely.The clippers are a lovely bright pink colour which really stands out when rummaging through the various bits and and pieces of grooming equipment.They have ergonomic, slip free handles, which is important, as you don’t want the clippers to slip at the vital moment.There is also a protective guard to guard against cutting the nail too low. They also have a lock for safe storage and a retractable nail file.OPINIONI have a pair of similar style nail clippers in my grooming kit which I bought from a well known high street Pet store. I have to be completely honest and say that these clippers from Bugalugs are far superior in every aspect.Firstly, these are much more comfortable to hold. The “arms” are chunkier which provides a much better grip, especially with the rubberised non-slip handles.Secondly the blades are much sharper giving a much cleaner cut. My other pair does have a safety guard, but the guard on these is bigger making it easier to position.The safety lock makes storage safer and easier.I have used these firstly to trim the dew claws on my dog, because if left to grow they can curl up and pierce the pad. These clippers cut straight through the tip of the dew claw giving a neat and precise cut.In conclusion I am extremely happy with these dog nail clippers and glad that I chose the Medium to Large size. I always err on the side of caution when cutting my dog’s nails, as it’s always better to cut little and often, but if you are confident in cutting your pet's nails, then you really cannot go wrong with this product. I would certainly explore other products from this brand if the quality of these is anything to go by. These nail clippers are a must for dog care and should be used as part of your grooming schedule. Don't be afraid to use these, they come with a guide or a stop which will stop you cutting to much off, but be warned the stop could allow you to cut your dog's nails too short and make them bleed. Always seek advise.They're very sharp and cut the nails of our large breed dogs very well. The spring pressure is strong but doesn't require too much force to use. They're super smooth and fit into the hand easily.I like the bright colour, it helps make them easy to find in our doggy care box under the counter.

These are brilliant dog nail clippers.I have just thrown away my older pair in favour of these. Both are similar in design but the older pair are heavier and incredibly stiff to use. These, by comparison, are lightweight, easy to open the sliding toggle with just one hand and they cut perfectly. Furthermore, the handle is ergonomic and comfortable to hold with a slightly textured, non-slip surface. A pull-out, small metal ‘emery board’ for filing nails is provided at the base of one handle. To be honest, I have never needed to use one with our dog and as such, are surplus to requirements.Priced at £5.99, these represent great value!

Really disappointed with these clippers. Thought they were spring loaded but don't spring back once you have clipped claw, they are heavy and hard work to use. Shame as I love bugalugs products and use lots of them. Will stuck to purchasing shampoos, conditioners, grooming & sprays

The clippers do their intended job. They are just generic nail clippers branded up with the Bugalugs logo. I've seen the exact same product in different colours branded up with logos for other companies and in different colours. The white plastic disk-shaped parts which cover the fulcrum don't appear to serve any purpose apart from carrying the logo. The business end which does the cutting does work quite well, and the handles are quite grippy although they feel a little awkward for me to hold, but that's going to be different for everybody of course. The included nail file which hides inside one of the handles is quite course so should work quite well, it's only short but is still a nice feature to have. The lock which keeps the blades closed when not in use feels very positive and secure. I'm not sure how useful the built-in depth guage is, I prefer to go by eye as all dogs are slightly different.

Very sharp clippers. Had no problem trimming German Shepherd nails when they got a bit too sharp. File works ok too. Easy to hold and operate. Fairly affordable price.

The blade is comfortable to hold and use and cuts pretty easily. The guard may not be useful to some as it is set back relatively far from the blade so still proceed with caution as this will not guarantee you avoid clipping the quick. There are some instructions on the packaging to assist if you have never clipped your pets claws before

Good quality and a well made nail clipper, it’s very sharp however safe to use, cute my dogs nail instantly, it’s a sturdy and durable clipper. Handy that it comes with a nail file as it helps to smooth the edges of the nails. Good price.
