What is Crufts?
Crufts is an international dog show that takes place every year in the UK. People from all over the world descend on the UK to show their dogs at Crufts and this year’s event took place at the NEC in Birmingham. Held since 1891 and organised by The Kennel Club, it’s the largest show of its kind. The show tests dog ability, obedience, flyball and heelwork. Over 24,000 dogs from all over the World took part in this years competition and Viking, the Australian Shepherd from Brimingham, beat them all to win the prestigious Best in Show award.
What did we get up to at Crufts?
2024 marks the third year Bugalugs have attended Crufts. Our stand was kept busy and bustling throughout the whole 4-day event, and we even got to meet some of our influencer friends, some show stopping contestants and some lovely pawrents. Our team of 9 were thrilled to be surrounded by dogs – a huge change from our usual office surroundings. In fact, our supervisor Danielle has suggested we bring our dogs into the office more often after the success Crufts. Luckily, we’ve stocked up on some office treats for those occasions, with help from our Crufts neighbours Park Life and Benebone.
Toward the end of the event, we were approached by a Police Inspector from Solihull Police, requesting some products for the Police working dogs. We were more than happy to oblige,
and we even got to meet some fantastic Police dogs who were thrilled with their Bugalugs products. After a quick pack down, the team headed back to the hotel for a well-deserved beverage and a wind down, before heading back to the Lake District the following day. Although very tired, the team were on a high on the journey home, as targets were smashed and the bars were raised, and we have you, our Bugalugs customers, to thank for that.
What were our best-selling products?
We sold out of all our shampoos on Sunday afternoon. There was only a couple of innovative paw cleaners left and very few salmon oil. So, if you’re thinking about coming along to Crufts next year, come and see us early! Our sample bags were also very popular, and we had people requesting these all show round. We made 8000 sample bags, which we tried to stagger across the event. These were widely popular and somehow went viral on social media, with customers requesting the samples they’d seen on their TikTok or Instagram accounts. Although making up these bags up was hard-work (as anyone watching our TikTok lives will know), it definitely paid off at the event and we’re so glad you guys enjoyed them.
